The Air Cadet League of Canada Officer of the year Award is to recognize a Canadian Forces Officer for outstanding service to the League. Although any Canadian Forces Officer may be considered, such consideration is focussed on Members of the Cadet Instructor Cadre (CIC). The award may be issued in conjunction with any of the other Awards, or it may be issued as a separate Award by the National Honours and Awards Committee.
This Award is for an individual who serves in support of the Canadian Cadet Movement at the National, Provincial or Local level, when it is desired to honour such a person for service that is considered to be above that which might normally be expected of a Member of the Canadian Forces in its CIC component. Each Provincial Committee may submit a single nomination for this Award to a Canadian Forces Officer that, in the opinion of the Provincial Committee, has provided outstanding service to the Air Cadet League. As well, the Board of Governors and Advisory Council may each submit a single nomination for an individual who has provided outstanding service to the Air Cadet League at the Regional or National Level. Nominations for the Officer of the year Award should be forwarded on Form ACC50 from the Provincial Chairman, the Chairman of the Advisory Council, or the National President in the case of the Board of governors, to the Chairperson of the National Honours and Awards Committee. The nomination should contain a full supporting narrative of the reasons for the nomination. All such nominations should be forwarded annually to reach the National Office no later than 31 March.
