OTTAWA, ON (October 3, 2019) – The Air Cadet League of Canada congratulates Warrant Officer Second Class (WO2) Samantha Keow from 333 Beaverbrook Squadron, in Fredericton, New Brunswick, who has been named the 2019 Royal Canadian Legion Air Cadet of the Year.
WO2 Keow’s excellence in demonstrating strong leadership and citizenship have earned her this title. She is highly motivated, having participated in the International Air Cadet Exchange program this summer and the National Effective Speaking Competition, in which she took first place in 2018. WO2 Keow’s commitment to her community, squadron, and her dedication to ensuring youth are part of building a strong foundation in Canada’s future, is an inspiration.
The Royal Canadian Legion Air Cadet of the Year acts as the youth representative for the annual National Remembrance Day Ceremony on November 11th 2019 held in Ottawa, Ontario. During her time in Ottawa, WO2 Keow will be a member of the Vice-Regal Party which consists of the Governor General of Canada, Prime Minister, and Dominion President of the Royal Canadian Legion among others. WO2 Keow’s role for the National Remembrance Day Ceremonies will be to assist with the laying of the wreaths at the National War Memorial.
The Air Cadet League of Canada is a civilian non-profit community based and volunteer led organization which is dedicated to supporting the objectives of the Royal Canadian Air Cadet program, and to developing in youth the attributes of good citizenship and leadership; promoting physical fitness; and stimulating the interest of youth in the aviation and aerospace industry, including the air element of the Canadian Forces.
