The Air Cadet League of Canada Announces 2019 Young Citizens Foundation Scholarship Award Recipient
OTTAWA, ON (July 10, 2019) – The Air Cadet League of Canada (ACL) congratulates Warrant Officer Second Class (WO2) Robert Benjamin Shuert who has been awarded the $5,000.00 Young Citizens Foundation (YCF) Scholarship.
WO2 Shuert, from 62 Grimsby Phantom Squadron in Grimsby, Ontario, has consistently displayed a high degree of leadership, responsibility and determination. While maintaining a great academic record, Shuert also coaches junior football and participates in many different bands, including the Hamilton All Star Jazz Concert Band. He has won the Duke of Edinburgh award, the Royal Canadian Legion Cadet Medal of Excellence, and the ANAVETS Cadet Medal of Excellence. Shuert has applied to Lampton College in the hopes of becoming a Millwright Mechanical Technician.
The mission of the Young Citizens Foundation is to assist young Canadians to grow and mature as committed, knowledgeable and contributing Canadian citizens. The Foundation achieves this objective by encouraging young Canadians to participate in development programs operated by nationally recognized organizations such as The Royal Canadian Air Cadets that provide life-learning opportunities for our youth which will significantly influence and benefit their development as committed Canadian citizens.
The Air Cadet League of Canada is a civilian non-profit community based and volunteer led organization, which in collaboration with the Department of National Defence and our other partners, is dedicated to supporting the objectives of the Royal Canadian Air Cadet program, and to developing in youth the attributes of good citizenship and leadership; promoting physical fitness; and stimulating the interest of youth in the aviation and aerospace industry, including the air element of the Canadian Forces.
