The Air Cadet League of Canada is pleased to announce FSgt Marika Dewar-Norosky, of 317 Strathclair Squadron in Newdale, manitoba, as this year’s recipient of the Civil Air Search and Rescue Association (CASARA) Foundation Continuation Flying Award.
Outside of cadets, FSgt Dewar-Norosky is a member of her local fire department and would like to use her license to volunteer with the CASARA. She wants to continue enhancing her navigation skills and help bridge the divide that exists between the ground and the air. She hopes one day to be able to work as a gliding instructor and eventually a tow pilot for the gliding operations.
The CASARA Foundation Continuation Flying Award is presented annually to one of the top graduates of the Air Cadet Power Pilot Training Program who expresses an interest in using their flying qualifications to help other individuals or organizations. Applicants must be actively involved in an Air Cadet Squadron and must hold a current Transport Canada Private Pilot License.
The Air Cadet League of Canada is a civilian non-profit community based and volunteer led organization which is dedicated to supporting the objectives of the Royal Canadian Air Cadet program, and to developing in youth the attributes of good citizenship and leadership; promoting physical fitness; and stimulating the interest of youth in the aviation and aerospace industry, including the air element of the Canadian Forces.
