The Air Cadet League of Canada Announces 2019 Birchall Scholarship Recipient.
OTTAWA, ON (July 8, 2019) – The Air Cadet League of Canada (ACL) congratulates Warrant Officer First Class (WO1) Cameron Kinsella who has been awarded the $9,000.00 Air Commodore Leonard J. Birchall and Mrs. Kathleen Birchall Scholarship.
WO1 Kinsella, from 807 Mount Pearl Squadron in Newfoundland, has shown great leadership and determination in all aspects of his life. While maintaining an excellent academic record, in his spare time WO1 Kinsella also volunteers at the local soup kitchen and coaches the special Olympic team. He is a Glider and Power graduate, and has dedicated many hours to the gliding site. In lieu of his tremendous efforts, he was considered the National Scholarship Committee’s top choice for 2019. He has won the Duke of Edinburgh Award, the Royal Canadian Legion Cadet Medal of Excellence, the Lord Strathcona Medal, and the Air Force Association Medal. WO1 Kinsella plans to attend the University of Waterloo to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics Engineering.
The Air Cadet League of Canada is a civilian non-profit community based and volunteer led organization, which in collaboration with the Department of National Defence and our other partners, is dedicated to supporting the objectives of the Royal Canadian Air Cadet program, and to developing in youth the attributes of good citizenship and leadership; promoting physical fitness; and stimulating the interest of youth in the aviation and aerospace industry, including the air element of the Canadian Forces.
