2016 Recipient of the WestJet Pilots’ Association Continuation Pilot Training Award

The Air Cadet League of Canada is pleased to announce WO2 Ryan Petrie, of 330 Danforth Tech Squadron in Toronto, Ontario, as this year’s recipient of the WestJet Pilots’ Association Continuation Pilot Training Award.

WO2 Petrie has completed his Basic Aviation Course, his Advanced Aviation Course, his Glider Pilot Scholarship Course and his Power Pilot Scholarship Course. He has earned the distinction of Top Student Glider Pilot in the Central Region and obtained a score of 96% on his Transport Canada Private Pilot Exam. He will be enrolled in the Aviation Technology Flight Program at Sault College to obtain an Advanced Diploma in Aviation Technology and a Commercial Pilot’s License.

The WestJet Pilots’ Association Continuation Pilot Training Award is presented annually to one of the top graduates of the Power Pilot Training Program who expresses an interest in a career as a commercial pilot. Applicants must be actively involved in an Air Cadet Squadron and must hold a current Transport Canada Private Pilot License.

The Air Cadet League of Canada is a civilian non-profit community based and volunteer led organization which is dedicated to supporting the objectives of the Royal Canadian Air Cadet program, and to developing in youth the attributes of good citizenship and leadership; promoting physical fitness; and stimulating the interest of youth in the aviation and aerospace industry, including the air element of the Canadian Forces.
